When I was looking to increase my mortgage overpayments, I found many ways to make extra money online. Qmee was one of the sites I came across and decided to try. After using it for a few years, I’ve decided to write a review to help you decide whether to give it a try.
What is Qmee?
Qmee brands itself as a ‘shopping companion’ that helps to save you money. You install their plug in and search online using your normal search engine. Based upon your search criteria a link to a product may pop up alongside your search results. Just click on the link and the money will be transferred into your Qmee account. The amounts vary but the link clearly states how much you will earn.
Times have changed since I first started using Qmee and they now have surveys on their site. Some surveys can be quite lucrative but you do need to weigh up the time / payout ratio and decide if you feel they’re worth your time. If you have some time to kill, or you’re multitasking while watching tv, then they may be a good option for you. Qmee also have a range of cashback offers for signing up to services offered by their partners. At the time of writing, they have offers available with payouts ranging from £3.00 – £30.00.
What I like about Qmee:
There are quite a few positives to Qmee that I’ve listed below:
- It’s simple to install
- It’s an easy way to make money
- You get paid to do what you normally do – just search online and Qmee does the rest.
- There are lots of surveys available
- You can access surveys on the go through their app
- There’s no cash out limit so you can claim your earnings at any point
- It’s available in the UK, USA, Canada and Australia, so I my overseas friends can join in too
- It’s been on the go since 2012 which gives me more confidence in them
- There’s the option to donate your earnings to charity
What I’d like to change about Qmee:
Although it’s a great site, there are a few things I’d change if I could:
- Some of the surveys have very low payouts, so choose the ones you participate in wisely
- Late screenouts with surveys can be an issue. I’ve had some screen me out after 5 minutes. One positive is that Qmee have an option to report a survey that pops up after completion or screenout. I like this proactive stance
- Their app doesn’t offer rewards for searching
- Unless you’re doing surveys and cashback offers it can be a slow earner – but, it’s a quick and easy way to make money for doing what you would normally do. So I’m not complaining.
How to sign up for Qmee:
You can sign up for Qmee by using my referral link here. If you use my link then we’ll both receive 50p when you make your first cashout via Paypal (this will go towards the running costs associated with this blog – every little helps). If you’d prefer not to use my link then you can sign up directly here, but there will be no incentive for either of us.
The sign up process is simple. Just enter your email address and a password, or use your Facebook or Twitter account to join. You’ll then be asked to install the Qmee extension on your browser. If you have any concerns about this or want to know more about Qmee check out their user friendly FAQ.
What’s the earning potential?
I view Qmee as a nice little side-earner that ticks along in the background. It give’s me a bit of extra pocket money each month for doing what I would normally do. For anyone who wants to make more money, the surveys are a great way to supplement your earnings and the amounts can build up quite quickly. The screenouts are frustrating, but if you were looking to make an extra £10-£15 a week, it seems pretty achievable. Obviously your success would depend upon survey availability and the amount of time you are able to commit – you might even make a lot more.
I’ve just checked my Qmee dashboard and there are currently 7 surveys available with a combined payout of over £3, so the earning opportunities are there. It’s just a case of calculating your time and the effort involved to decide whether it’s worth it for you.
If you choose to give Qmee a try or have any other recommendations of similar websites then do let me know in the comments below. I’m always on the lookout for new sites. If you’re not a regular reader and are interested in making money through online surveys then check out this blog post.
Have a wonderful day and remember – it’s the small steps taken over time that make the biggest difference.
