A few weeks ago I started meal planning. It was something I did regularly when I was trying to pay my mortgage off early. But once I became mortage free, I got out of the routine.
Since picking the habit back up, I’ve discovered that meal planning is about so much more than saving money. It has the power to transform our lives in subtle but powerful ways.
I’ve decided to live life in reverse for a while. Instead of focusing on what I can bring into my life, I’m going to focus on letting go. A process I call subtract and thrive.
It’s an idea that has been floating around my mind for a while, especially after listening to Cait Flanders talk about her Year of Less. An experiment that resulted in her discovering and prioritising what she truly valued in life.
This week has seen me put the finishing touches to my creative side hustle, Chicken Roulette Press.
After a manic day at work, I’ve donned my business cap and got creative. The result is a freshly launched Twitter page and a selection of self-published books on Amazon.
I’m amazed to say that I’ve already made some sales (and that wasn’t just from the copy my Mum bought…although obviously she’s my number one fan!). And whilst the process of self-publishing has been a steep learning curve, it has also been incredibly fun!
Today has been perfect so far. I started the day with a blustery and rather soggy run along the coast. Followed by a visit to my family, where I ate far too much homemade ginger parkin – it was delicious! And I’ve changed the bedsheets so tonight I can snuggle into a cozy, clean bed. Life is feeling pretty abundant right now.
Some of you may be aware that I’m currently part of MamaFurFur’s Prosperity Accelerator Mastermind community. It’s been an amazing adventure and I’m learning so much, but one thing I never expected to be focusing on when I first signed up was having a mindset of abundance.
It was so lovely to wake up in my own time this morning. No alarm, no need to rush, just the space to allow my mind and body to ease into the day.
To say that the return to work this fortnight has been tough would be an understatement, it’s been a baptism of fire. However, it’s made me appreciate my days off even more.
It’s also made me even more grateful that I chose to go part-time, a decision that I didn’t take lightly, but one that has opened up so many more possibilities in my life. Including the exciting side hustle that I’ve embarked upon.
