It was so lovely to wake up in my own time this morning. No alarm, no need to rush, just the space to allow my mind and body to ease into the day.
To say that the return to work this fortnight has been tough would be an understatement, it’s been a baptism of fire. However, it’s made me appreciate my days off even more.
It’s also made me even more grateful that I chose to go part-time, a decision that I didn’t take lightly, but one that has opened up so many more possibilities in my life. Including the exciting side hustle that I’ve embarked upon.
You may recall that last week I wrote about attending the Pop Up Business School. Without the ‘head space’ that going part-time created, I don’t think I’d have even considered signing up as I’d have been “too busy.”
Being “too busy” is a pitfall of our modern society. We become so focused on just getting through the day that we don’t pause to consider the possibilities available to us.
Does this sound familiar to you? It does to me. I’m the chief of being “too busy.” Even though I work part-time I still get caught in the busy trap.
However, I have tried to make space for new opportunities. And I’ve found myself saying “yes” more frequently to things that have come my way.
One of the things I’ve said “yes” to is creating a side hustle which involves publishing my own journals.
Self publishing as a side hustle
I love writing and I’ve kept a journal for many years. So when I saw a course offering to teach me how to make my own journals and notebooks I wanted to find out more.
The course was Publishing for Profits and I have to admit that the course information seemed very appealing.
Initially I dismissed it, thinking that I wouldn’t have the time or skills to create my own books. It’s amazing how we can let negative self-talk rule us! But the course kept popping into my mind so I decided to give it a go.
After all, i’d be developing a side hustle creating a product I love and hopefully other people would too.
That was two weeks ago and I’m amazed to tell you that last night I hit the publish button on not just one, but two journals!
They’re not ‘live’ yet as they’re currently being reviewed by Amazon (a process that all books go through prior to publishing) but I cannot believe everything that I’ve learnt in just two weeks.
What’s in the course?
The Publishing for Profits course guides you gently through the book-making process, providing detailed videos and instructions every step of the way. It tells you how to create covers and book inserts without having to buy any special software, so all you have to pay is the one off course fee.
If you get stuck, the course creator, Flavio, is on hand to get you back on track. Although the course is so easy to follow that it’s unlikely you’ll need any help at all.
I’m currently just over half-way through the course and I’ve already published two books. Yet there’s still more to work though, so I’m excited to see what’s coming up next.
I’m amazed at the excellent value for money the course is providing. It would have taken me months to research this information. Actually, I’d probably have given up.
But as a newbie to the self-publishing world, it’s fair to say that I now feel confident in my ability to come up with a book idea, create it and put it out into the world.
I also feel that the course has given me the knowledge to self-publish the novel that I wrote years ago. I’ve done nothing with it because I didn’t know what to do next. Publishing it just felt like a mammoth task. But thanks to this course, it doesn’t anymore.
Do what you love
The Publishing for Profits course has reignited my creative spark and my head is now buzzing with ideas for my new creations. I finally feel like I’ve found something I love to do which I’m hoping will become a viable source of passive income.
Once my books are published, I’ll do a proper ‘reveal’ here on my blog but for the moment I’m going to continue being a happy creator making books that I love.
If this post has sparked your interest but you want to know more about the course before purchasing, feel free to drop me a question in the comments or contact me. I’m always happy to help.
In the meantime, I’m going to spend the rest of my day getting creative and designing journals. Who’d have thought when I started the Simple Sundays project that my days would take on such a transformation?
Have a wonderful day!
