I’ve recently attended the Etsy in a Week course and what a fantastic learning journey it has been. It’s shown me that it’s possible to build your own thriving Etsy business, something that I never thought possible.
Before I started my Etsy learning journey, I thought that Etsy was an outlet for hobbyists to sell their creations… Yes, I’m hanging my head in shame at my own naivety! But now I’ve learnt that it’s possible to create an Etsy empire and scale it as much as you want.
Obviously this depends upon getting customers to buy from you but Etsy in a Week is packed with handy hints and tips to optimise your store to ensure maximum exposure and make sales.
Building an Etsy business
Etsy in a Week is a four week course which has been created by Vari Morris, owner of Yarnie Finds. Vari opened her store in February 2020 and made her first sale a few weeks later. Since then her sales have gradually increased and she now consistently makes over £1000 a month.
Whats the secret to her success? Well she continued to fine-tune her processes and increase her listings. And through trial and error, coupled with plenty of research, she discovered what makes the Etsy algorithm tick.
And this is what Vari shares in Etsy in a Week.
Etsy in a Week – the juicy bits!
The Etsy in a Week course is delivered over four weeks. Each week Vari hosts a live zoom call and talks through a different aspect of running an Etsy business.
These include:
- Setting up your Etsy store in just 7 days
- Promoting your store
- Growing your store
- How to scale your store by working smarter
The calls last for about an hour with the opportunity for a Q&A session at the end, so you really do have the opportunity to get tailored advice and support.
Vari also provides a digital toolkit consisting of various templates to help you organise and manage your shop.
Don’t feel under pressure to set up your store within 7 days, you can take as long as you like. The information is always there to go back to as Vari provides access to the zoom recording and powerpoints after each session.
There’s also a private Facebook group where you can ask questions and share ideas with the other members of the course, which gives it a wonderful community feel.
If you’d like to learn more about the course you can check out Vari’s Facebook page – Vari Morris. If you scroll down the page a little you’ll be able to access a few of Vari’s Facebook live sessions for free. They contain a wealth of information about Etsy and a taster of what you’ll learn from the course.
My Etsy business
After watching Vari’s free Facebook live sessions, I was eager to get started, so I set up my Etsy store before the course began. I did wonder how much I’d learn from the course – let me tell you, I learnt A LOT!
I ended up tweaking a lot of what I’d already done and adding much more detail to my store. Plus I still have a huge list of things to do. (Technically, it’s not just ‘my’ store, it’s actually mine and my fiancee’s, as mentioned in my Four Before Forty list… If you’re reading this CP, don’t worry I’ve not forgotten about you. But for the ease of typing I’m going to say ‘my’, I know you’ll understand).
My store has only been up and running for a month and I’ve already had 4 sales. And let me tell you, I have massive plans for how to grow and develop it, thanks to Etsy in a Week.
So whether you’re a newbie to Etsy or you already have a store, I’m confident that the course has something for you. So head over to her Facebook page – Vari Morris to find out more. And if you can’t find the date for when the next course is running, drop Vari a message.
Enjoy building your Etsy empire.
