For many of us Christmas 2020 is going to be unlike any other – and I’m not going to even try and put it into words. But I wanted to stop by and wish all of my readers a Merry Christmas.
When I started to post regularly to this blog, I wasn’t sure whether anyone would read it or find it useful. But you clearly do and I’m grateful for the time you take to read my posts.
I really hope you’ve found something here to help you on your own journey or give you a gentle nudge along your path.
My Christmas plans
This year I’ll be spending Christmas day with my fiancee and parents. It’ll be a quiet day, filled with food, humour and Facetime with family members. Quite different from previous years, but it feels like a blessing after everything we’ve endured in 2020.
I’m going to use the Christmas break to take a step back and pause. After the highs and lows of 2020, I’m looking forward to a rest. My days will be filled with books, movies and curling up in front of a cozy coal fire and I can’t wait.
I’ll be taking a break from social media for a while, but I’ve got some exciting plans brewing for 2021 – it might involve a year long experiment. I want to sit with the idea for a while and allow it emerge fully before I share it, but I think it could be good fun.
Look for the positives
So how are you feeling about Christmas? For me it’s going to be a bittersweet day, enjoying family time but also tinged with sadness for those who haven’t made it through 2020.
Whilst I’ll honour those feelings and let them flow, I’m also going to focus on the positives. It’s during times like these that my practice of focusing on abundance and developing my mindset really helps. It’s a practice I wholeheartedly recommend alongside gratitude.
So if you’re feeling a bit stuck or a bit low, perhaps start to develop a gratitude practice. Write down three things each day that you’re grateful for and commit to it for a month. See if you notice subtle changes in your mindset.
If you need some inspiration, then check out my friend, Emma’s podcast – I Choose Happy. She lists 10 gratitudes a day and if you look hard enough you might just find her chatting to a famiiar blogger (ahem).
Anyway, this post on my Christmas 2020 reflections has turned into something a little longer than planned. It’s funny how blog posts can unfurl in this way.
From my household to yours, whatever you’re doing, I hope you have a peaceful and Merry Christmas.
