word for the year

The Freedom Diaries – Week 23 & 24: What’s Your Word for the Year?

by mortgagefreebythesea on Jan 16, 2022 category The Freedom Diaries

Every January I choose a word for the year. It’s a little ritual I do to invite in the energy I want to experience for the upcoming year. A kind of energetic anchor.

I spent some time today looking through my journals. I’d picked ‘solitude’ as my word for 2020 – and I certainly got a lot of that as the pandemic hit!

For 2021 my word was ‘balance’. And things did begin to balance out as I left my job to focus on my business and create a more sustainable work/life balance, one which allowed me the space to focus more on the things I enjoy.

by mortgagefreebythesea on Jan 2, 2022 category The Freedom Diaries

Happy New Year! And thank you for visiting my little corner of cyberspace. As we welcome in the new energy of 2022, I want to take some time to pause and celebrate 2021. It was a wonderful year for so many reasons.

you don't need permission

The Freedom Diaries – Week 20: You Don’t Need Permission

by mortgagefreebythesea on Dec 19, 2021 category A Year of Letting Go, The Freedom Diaries

This week I came to a realisation that you don’t need to ask for permission, yet so many of us seek it. The realisation occurred during a conversation with my lovely friend, Caroline. She’s training to be a hypnotherapist and I’m lucky enough to be one of her volunteers.

We’ve been focusing on reducing my habitual busyness and bringing about more ease in my life. During last weeks session, she asked me what one thing I could do to improve my sense of ease and as I thought about it something came to mind that’s crossed my mind many times before.

The Happiness List

The Freedom Diaries – Week 19: The Happiness List

by mortgagefreebythesea on Dec 12, 2021 category The Freedom Diaries

Last week I created a ‘happiness list’. The message to ‘do what makes you happy now’ keeps popping up in my life from various sources, so I decided to take action.

For so many of us, we often get into a cycle of making our happiness conditional. For example, “I’ll be happy when…I’ve paid off my debts…I have the home of my dreams…I find my soulmate.” But the reality is that we can bring happiness into each and every day and it’s not something that we need to put on hold.

how to write and publish a book for free

The Freedom Diaries – Week 18: How to Write and Publish a Book for Free

by mortgagefreebythesea on Dec 5, 2021 category The Freedom Diaries

Ok, so you’ve read the title and you’re thinking, there’s no way I can do that! Let me tell you that it is entirely possible to write and publish a book for free. It’s going to take time and effort, but if you’re not afraid of commitment and seeing a project through to the end, then it’s totally doable.

This post was inspired by my Instagram Live chat with Laura Poole of The Rebel Business School where we discussed how I wrote and self-published my book. If you missed it, you can catch it here. It was great fun and a timely reminder that I should push myself out of my comfort zone more often. Something which I intend to do.

So if you’d like to know how to write and publish a book for free, then read on.
