A Year of Letting Go

by mortgagefreebythesea on Dec 19, 2021 category A Year of Letting Go, The Freedom Diaries

NaNoWriMo 2021

The Freedom Diaries: Week 14 & 15 – NaNoWriMo 2021

by mortgagefreebythesea on Nov 17, 2021 category A Year of Letting Go, The Freedom Diaries

November has arrived which can only mean one thing – it’s time for NaNoWriMo 2021. For those of you not in the know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month.

For one month each year, this non-profit organisation encourages people to get in touch with their creativity and write a novel (non-fiction books are fine too). The goal is to write 50,000 words in November – this may be a complete novel for some or just the beginning for others. But the idea is that through November you build up a writing practice, one that may mark the start of a beautiful, creative journey.

Letting Go of my 30s – Hello Naughty 40s!

by mortgagefreebythesea on Oct 17, 2021 category A Year of Letting Go

My 30s were a pivotal decade in my life. They reflect a time when I truly began to stand on my own two feet, formulate my own ideas about the world and affirm my own identity.

The Freedom Diaries Week 1

The Freedom Diaries: Week 1 – When the universe has other plans

by mortgagefreebythesea on Jul 31, 2021 category A Year of Letting Go, Personal Development, The Freedom Diaries

So now I’ve quit my job, I thought I’d document my journey as I take the steps to create my new life. And what better title to give this series of blog-logs than The Freedom Diaries.

My plan is to publish a new diary each week with the discoveries I’ve made, steps I’ve taken and my current thoughts. It will be a way to track my progress while I explore this new way of being in the world.

When I left work last week, my plan was to have a restful week and allow myself some space and time to reflect. It seems the universe had other plans…

Why I Decided To Quit My Job

by mortgagefreebythesea on Jul 21, 2021 category A Year of Letting Go, financial independence

It’s time to share some news that I’ve been keeping to myself – I’ve decided to quit my job. This week will be my final week in school before I stretch my wings and venture out into the world of self-employment.

It wasn’t a decision I made quickly, in fact I’ve been planning it for almost 18 months. But I reached a point where I knew it was time to leave. So a few months ago, I bit the bullet and handed in my notice.
